Bad jokes.
I am dreaming of rainstorms in Kansas--real storms, thunder and lightning and wind that breaks windows. I miss a lot of things that live in that little town: three Parkers, one Rodney + cats, one Henry's on 8th, one bookstore/coffeeshop, one university-upon-Oread. I'm ready to go.
New job starts tomorrow. I wonder if I should be nervous...nah. On my first day at the Press I was so sick I almost puked while driving over the hill in Eudora. I'd never been more nervous in my life. I doubt I have anything to worry about.
My best friend from elementary school stopped by this afternoon. I haven't talked to her in at least three years, but she's renting a house down the street soon and decided to stop by and see how we were doing. My dad's old truck was in the driveway so she knew we still lived here. It was good to see her, good to see she stopped being the "bad" girl she was in high school (emancipated at sixteen, smart but not for school, no respect for authority), and that she is every bit the adult she is old enough to be. Makes me feel like a slacker.
I'm in a bad mood. I blame the weather. (I hate direct sunlight--skin's too white, bad shadows, heat). If anyone has a cave for rent, please let me know. I am not a bat, I just don't want to listen to anyone's bad jokes.
